I’ve been playing pedal steel guitar for 28 years, over that period of time as part of a backing band or group I have backed countless Vocal artists.
Ranging from Raw beginners at Country Music Festivals, to those who may be regarded as legends such as Buddy Williams, Gordon Parsons, Stan Costa, Ellie Lavelle, Terry Gordon, Owen Blundell, John McSweeney, Auriel Andrews, Col Hardy, Brian Young, Troy Casar Daley, Double Decker Dave and the “Toe Sucking Cowgirls” in recent times.
I have played in all states of Australia except Tasmania, as part of a touring group with Bill Murray’s Alec Beckett, Jimmy Little and as part of a support group for a “ Flying Emus’ tour through Queensland.
Major events I have appeared at includes the Gympie Muster, Plus Tamworth Country Music festival, Tamworth Songwriters Awards (QLD) Katherine Country Music Muster, Alice Springs Outback festival, Winton Outback festival, Charters Towers Outback Festival, plus the Koori Showcase, and the Brisbane Steel Guitar Convention.
In 1996 I launched my CD “ From the Heart” which features steel guitar instrumentals of Country Evergreens, which has gained a reasonable degree of success, receiving air play in all states of Australia plus New Zealand, United Kingdom, Italy Canada and USA.
I am Currently working freelance in various groups such as “ Country Connections” Midlife Crisis, Mixed Business, Gus Williams “ Country Ebony”, Plus my family group “Blue Rose Trio” which features my wife Val on Bass and Vocals, plus my daughter Gina on Rhythm and Vocals, and on occasions Laurie West on Drums.
In my spare time, I do session recording, and to make sure I have no spare time at all, I am currently the President of the Twin Rivers Country Music Club.
